Governorship Candidate of the Action Peoples Party, APP in Rivers State, Dr LEESI GBOROGBOSI has expressed concern over the inability of students to pay their school fees following the financial challenge made visible by the students at the Rivers State University.
Speaking to the newsmen in Port Harcourt, the APP Governorship Candidate Dr LEESI GBOROGBOSI who is also the Executive Chairman of Gborogbosi Foundation said if given the opportunity to govern in 2023, his administration will adopt the solid Education policy that will ensure that all students are able to complete their education despite the economic background the student may come from.
Dr LEESI GBOROGBOSI however revealed his approval of setting up of an Education Trust Fund for Rivers State students. He also stated that the Gborogbosi Foundation will begin immediate granting of financial aids to twenty-three Rivers State University students from the twenty-three local governments especially from economically disadvantaged backgrounds.
The Governorship Candidate of the Action Peoples Party, APP in Rivers State DR LEESI GBOROGBOSI further urged business leaders, NGOs, and Foundations to collaborate with government in the areas of funding of education, job creation, provision of vacation jobs, and building of educational infrastructures in the state.
He emphasized that this collaboration can contribute to long-term educational stability, employability of graduates, human capacity development and to ensure that Rivers State becomes a global centre of innovation, research, and technology with no student being left behind due to financial challenges.
