Like other states, the people of Rivers State are facing a lack of jobs, poverty and hunger. Governor Fubara @SimFubaraKSC should prioritize job creation, poverty alleviation, and zero hunger.
Though I plan to become the next Governor of Rivers State, I am sharing my expertise and governance blueprint to help Governor Fubara succeed because the success or failure of the current administration will impact everyone.
Here are some key strategies to implement to create jobs, alleviate poverty and end hunger in Rivers State:
Resolve Defective Governance Structures:
It is difficult for the government to deliver good governance when the state does not have functional House of Assembly and Local Government Councils.
The government should urgently call a meeting of Rivers Elders across the divides to develop work-around solutions, including reconciliation.
Stakeholders Workshop on the Economic Summit Outcomes:
The Governor should take an immediate next step to convene a one-day stakeholders workshop involving government agencies, the private sector, social organizations, and traditional rulers.
Stakeholders to brainstorm on the outcomes of the economic and investment summit and devise a unified strategy to drive job creation, poverty alleviation and zero hunger.
Human Capital Development:
The government should collaborate with the “Gborogbosi Leadership and Entrepreneurship Program” to train young people on job creation and facilitate seed capital.
The training will include personal leadership, entrepreneurship, human capital development, and business culture.
From “Education of Knowing” to “Education of Solving Problems”:
The government should implement a fundamental shift in the education system. Place focus on equipping students with problem-solving skills.
Graduates should be encouraged to approach challenges with innovative solutions, thus fostering entrepreneurship and job creation.
Students To Establish Businesses Before Graduation:
The Governor should facilitate entrepreneurship and mentorship support programs at the universities.
This initiative aims to nurture and support aspiring entrepreneurs to establish business ventures before graduation to create jobs.
Job Creation Fund:
A substantial yearly job creation fund of ₦30 billion should be budgeted to support youth and women as entrepreneurs.
This funding will enable the creation of thousands of jobs annually, with a target of 1000 jobs per Local Government Area.
Music Recording Studio and Event Centre:
The Governor should partner with the private sector to set up a state-of-the-art music recording studio and event centre to provide job opportunities for entertainers and to further contribute to the growth of the creative industry in Rivers State.
Build A Stadium in Every Senatorial Area:
The government should build stadiums in all senatorial areas to serve as sports centres and to create opportunities for local sports teams and individuals.
This initiative aims to nurture local sports talents and transform them into successful global professionals.
Rivers State Centre for Innovation and Creativity:
The government should establish Innovation and creativity centres in every Local Government Area to train the youth in innovative and creative thinking.
The program will empower young individuals to engage in open innovation and develop technological solutions to address societal challenges.
Establish A Bank in Every Local Government Area:
Ensuring that every Local Government Area has access to banking services will facilitate financial intermediation, promoting rural economic development through savings and access to loans.
Implementation:
I would implement these programs as the next Governor of Rivers State by the grace of God Almighty.
